About us
openSky e.V. is a non-profit association dedicated to fostering music culture. Registered at the Wuppertal Local Court under register number VR 30387.
openSky was founded in Wuppertal in May 2013 and grew out of the organisers of the Wuppertal Jazzmeeting. The association’s name is also its programme. We are jazz lovers, but we remain open to other genres and do not want to commit to a single direction. As organisers of the Wuppertal Jazz Session “music is an open sky” at Café Ada, with around 30 dates per year, openSky e.V. is responsible – notably through session leader Matthias Kurzhals.

Mission
The founding members are united by:
- A passion for high-quality regional music and cultural offerings.
- The desire to inspire audiences for projects and events in the region and thereby strengthen the music scene as well as the cultural life and image of our city.
- The joy of developing and realising creative project ideas.
- The conviction that culture is an irreplaceable “staple of life” for everyone.
